By admin | novembre 10, 2009
the international conference on Grand Strategy and the New World Order which will be held on Friday 13 November 2009 at the European University Institute in Florence (Villa Schifanoia, Sala Europa).
The one-day conference will bring together leading American and European scholars (including Peter Feaver, Duke University; Pascal Vennesson, EUI; Avery Goldstein, University of Pennsylvania; Richard Samuels, MIT) to examine, and compare, the foreign and security policy of the great powers of the West (United States and the European Union) and the East (China and Japan) in order to gain a better understanding of current trends, and future prospects, in world politics. Each conference speaker will trace the development of the great power’s grand strategy of his/her expertise, including its key features and current manifestations. Some of the questions that will be addressed include: What are the main characteristics and features of US/EU/China/Japan’s grand strategy? Will the economic crisis change global power relations? What are the implications for US primacy, transatlantic relations, and the future global order?
