<p>The 2010-11 Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation Fellows in Central European Studies</p>
<p>Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Washington, DC</p>
<p align="justify">The Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation Fellowships in Central European Studies enable each year two outstanding scholars to conduct research on important issues related to Central Europe at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, D.C. The first Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation Fellows<br />
will be appointed for a nine (9) month period from October 2010-June 2011.</p>
<p>The Fellows are closely integrated into the research, training, and outreach activities of the Center for Transatlantic Relations (CTR) at SAIS, and will participate in CTR events and meetings. Each Fellow is expected to complete a research paper during the period of residence according to the terms of the assignment entered into with the Foundation.</p>
<p align="justify">Each year the Center and the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation identify several themes of particular interest. For 2010-11, the Center is particularly interested in receiving applications that deal with any of the following:</p>
<p>1. Central European countries and the international financial crisis<br />
2. Issues of political and economic stability and reform in central and eastern Europe<br />
<strong>Eligibility</strong></p>
<p align="justify">Applicants for the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation Fellowship must have a doctorate or be at the post-doctorate level, have demonstrated research capacity, be fluent in English, and be eligible for a J-1 visa. Preference will be given to qualified and competitive candidates from Austria, but the Fellowship is open to candidates of other nationalities as well.</p>
<p><strong>Stipend</strong></p>
<p align="justify">The Fellow will enter into a research assignment with the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation and will receive a monthly stipend of $5,000; an office with computer, Internet access and voicemail; access to Johns Hopkins University libraries and other facilities. The Fellow is expected to take care of his/her travel, accommodation, health care coverage and living expenses.</p>
<p><strong>Application Procedure</strong></p>
<p align="justify">Each applicant should submit the following (in English):</p>
<p>1. A letter supporting the application.<br />
2. A 3 to 5 page double-spaced statement that proposes a research project, including its relevance to the research interests of the Center.<br />
3. A curriculum vitae.<br />
4. Two sealed letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant&#8217;s professional competence.</p>
<p>The applicant is responsible for collecting all materials and submitting them as one packet before February 15, 2010 to:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="justify">The <strong>Centre for European Studies Research</strong> at the <strong>University of Portsmouth in the UK </strong>is advertising a number of full bursaries (fees covered, maintenance grant). We welcome especially applications in the field of contemporary history and politics of Europe and the European Union history broadly defined. Applicants (EU citizens) with projects on transnational dimensions (actors, networks, Europeanization etc.) are esp. strongly encouraged to apply. The deadline is <strong>26 February</strong> for a starting date of <strong>1 October 2010</strong>. The bursary includes a teaching obligation which is normally much more limited than the advertisement would suggest, and geared towards facilitating teaching experience to qualify for the academic job market.
