The British National Archives (The Public Record Office) have just launched a new web exhibition on the Cold War on their award winning education site 'The Learning Curve.'

The exhibition uses an extensive range of original source material including documents (shown in original format), photographs, posters and video, to encourage investigation of the Cold War. Constructed around a set of themes, each with case studies, this is a unique opportunity to work with raw primary material on the Cold War.

The flexibility of the design allows casual visitors as well as students to enjoy accessing the inner workings of the Cold War.

The exhibition is divided up into the following galleries.

  • Did the Cold War really start in 1919-39?
  • How strong was the wartime Alliance, 1941-1945?
  • Who caused the Cold War?
  • How did the Cold War work?
  • The nuclear game - how close was it?
  • Was Vietnam a turning point in the Cold War?
